MN August 2013 Unemployment Rate at 5.1%

More good news for Minnesota. The State's unemployment rate fell again in August 2013 to just 5.1%. This is the lowest rate for the state in all of 2013 and the lowest since another 5.1% rate way back in April 2008 (over 5 years). Good to see the recent downward trend continue!

RI went up again. We're over 9% again. I don't think it will ever end in this part of the country. Oh, I forgot, there was good news........400 retail jobs created! Very creative, they cut the hours of those already employed to 24 hrs. a week or less, and hired new part time employees to cover the hours to avoid providing healthcare. All these jobs at $7.75 an hour, minimum wage here. Yep, things are looking up!

Conn LOST 6000 jobs and is at 8.1. At 58 I have known for a few years I will never work a conventional job again, even 20 hour no benefit one. Now the Repugs in the House want me to loss my Food Stamps too.

Hi, Nutty! Good to hear from you. I just moved over the line to CT (Killingly area) hoping to be closer to decent jobs. I know I'll never find anything worthwhile, especially at age 57, don't know why I keep trying.

In Jersey, it's at 8.5%, down from 8.6% despite losing another 1,500 jobs. We all know that means more discouraged workers simply stopped looking ("Let me know when there are REAL jobs out there!")
