Tipped workers get paid so little because of the tips they receive. I think tips at eateries should be given directly to the business and that those businesses should be paying their workers, at least, the Federal minimum wage.

IDK,,I guess it depends on where u work and how much tips u make per day..When I was 18 and worked at eat n park..My friend who was a waiter made 80 to 100 in tips per shift..So i don't think he would've rather got paid minimum wage...

I was a waitress for a number of years when I was younger. Made 2.13 plus tips then. It wasn't bad, I could usually average 12.00 and up. The 2.13 plus 8% of your tips equals out to making minimum wage. The only bad part is if you had a slow day and didn't make 8% to turn in because you had to claim it anyway. The best I made was 3.00 an hour plus tips when i was the assistant manager at nights at one of the restaurants i worked at.
