Relatives think I should keep applying to the same job.
The conversation when something like this.
"You should go out on the road and apply for jobs, even if they dont have help wanted signs up, apply then the next week go back and apply again and again and again"
Me: The ads in the paper only provide email addresses or websites very rarely do they have business names or phone numbers anymore.
"Does't matter, go apply and keep applying."
Me: That could lead to harrassment and make me look worse and maybe get arrested.
"Doesn't matter, just keep applying even if you get arrested."
Meanwhile on the news the announcement that unemployment is up again and that there are 100 applications for every job.
"You're not doing enough to help yourself. Quit blaming others for your problems."
At that point I wanted to just leave and break ties.

People who are fortunate enough to still have a job simply do not understand. Or maybe they do, they are just scared to death that they will be joining our ranks soon and are in total denial.
Look at the number of FIRST time unemployment claims this week -429,000! That isn't a very good number, especially at this time of the year when hundreds of thousands recent college grads are going to be added to the number of people looking for work.
One of the last lines in this article about the rising ue claims really makes me angry and shows what kind of spin is placed on the news the public hears about the economy. It stated the good news was there were a little over 100,000 people who were not receiving unemployment benefits compared to last week's number. Good news? Tell the truth, that is 100,000 more 99ers in this country in one week!

I am so glad my relatives and friends are supportive of me. You would have to be deaf, dumb and blind not to realize that there are no jobs and the country's misery index is soaring.
I still have contact with many of my former coworkers at a BOA call center that closed and sent the operations overseas in March 2009. I'd say only 20% of them have found meaningful employment again. That is out of close to 1,000 people who lost their jobs at that time at BOA just in that month alone.

Absolutely, and what makes these numbers even worse, is that springtime is that time of the year when traditionally, employers are looking to do hiring.

The one that really gets to me is when they say, "I'm one of those folks who think that there are jobs out there, it's just that no one wants the jobs." Sends me into a fury!
